Cheryl had been to Bushwood once before.  Three years ago, almost to the day, she met a man at an Equine Alchemy workshop and now those two are living in blissful partnership.  Talk about ‘equine alchemy’!

During this time she has been able to let go of doing the work she carried out with no passion; no connection to herself.  She engaged in self-inquiry and developed a new state of consciousness.  Now she was back again, seeking more alchemy and to work with Coach Simon.

Her intention for being here was to gather information about how she could step into the next version of herself and how that would manifest into the work she will do for the rest of her life. 

Why did she come back to the alchemy of the horses?

Because in their presence, Cheryl was able to experience a part of herself that was difficult to ‘get’ to in her everyday life.  No matter how many study courses, self development intensives she did, she could never feel herself fully—not like she does with the horses.

Horses respond to our heart’s electromagnetic field—a part of us that interacts with and impacts our environment and relationships whether we acknowledge it or not.  Cheryl wanted a ‘reality check’ on her own level of consciousness.  By coming to the horses, she could be in that place of her own personal power and through the horses responses, ‘see’ and ‘feel’ if that place was real.

Through a beautiful session in the round pen with Coach Simon she found that it is.

 Afterward, in that highly conscious and powerful state, Cheryl and I sat down and began to explore how to develop her business. From the alchemy of the experience with Simon, she was able to embody the practical aspects of business building we discussed. This would enable her to create, understand and apply the information is a deeper, more powerful way.  Again, Cheryl was successful in coming to Bushwood  for the practical alchemy of the horses!

Embodying the Heart and Soul of Your Business

As our world and our human consciousness evolves more and more, people are seeking ways to build soulful and heart-based businesses.   Their business building steps often take them down the wrong pathway when they try to build their businesses from traditional, linear based marketing techniques--most of which are built on very different values than the values needed to build and sustain these new soul-centered businesses. 

Building a soul-centered business from a traditional place is at best

 not using all of your resources, and arguably, not using your most powerful resources.

Today, we need new information and a new marketing plan that are congruent with our new services.  We need to begin to embody our businesses in everything; branding, content, our relationship with our customers, and the way we interact with making money.  To create a vibrant business out of our passions, we need to authentically ‘be’ and express that ‘being-ness’.

To embody something, for the purpose of this article, means to feel and know it with your entire body.  It means using your body as a sensory device and an organ of perception that connects with your cognitive processing in a way that creates meaning—meaning that informs powerful action because it is coming from all of you; mind, heart and soul.

How do we embody the heart and soul of our business?

This is where horses can play a key role.  Horses are consummate teachers of how to use our bodies as sensory devices and organs of perception.  We like to say that they make conscious for us what is currently unconscious.  For the most part, we have no idea what we are putting across to others, what we are blocking from our teams and ourselves, and what we are attracting and how that is impacting our lives and businesses—things that to build and sustain a vibrant business you must know!!

Horses help you learn...

√ A deep and powerful sense of how brilliant you really are (and how to get out of your own way when you doubt yourself)

√ Connection to your own emotional intelligence and internal guidance system to help you navigate the challenging water of entrepreneurship

√ Enhanced energetic awareness and skill in communicating your authentic intentions

√ Validation and clarity on the decisions you are faced with in determining the next best step on the path to the Next Highest Version of Your Business!

√ Confidence in your own abilities to connect with another sentient being (be it horse or human)

√ A clear understanding of boundaries in your relationships, businesses affairs and even with money!

This creates the foundation of learning in a way that takes concepts to reality to embodiment in your business and your life!

You could spend time – lots of time absorbing information via traditional tele-conferences and even attending live workshops and seminars, but as you come away inspired and knowledgeable, you will not come away embodying that new knowledge in a way that informs powerful and authentic profit-building action, in the way that horses can provide through equine assisted training.

Your new business building lessons will only ‘stick’ for you when you physically & spiritually engage yourself with your new learning in a meaningful way that validates your actual evolution in the way that horses can provide.  Then the lessons become a part of the next highest version of who you really are!

Those of you who are still blind to this new evolution may read this and completely turn away. But the rest of you are beginning to vibrate with excitement, and intuitively understand that you are ready to truly embody the power of your ‘self’ with nature and share it with the world!

As children we were more open to learning with our entire being—we did not yet  compartmentalize our learning opportunities.  When we were kids, everything and everyday was a learning opportunity.  Guess what?  It still is.... and horses are wonderful and extraordinary teachers and team mates as we go about the “play” of embodying the heart and soul of our businesses!

Whispers of a Mystical Master

The theme of Week III of the Equine Assisted Coach Training with Lisa Murrell was Integration, and as an adjunct Instructor, I prepared for the week by declaring my intention to be fully present. By acknowledging multiple levels of frustration as a result of living with the unpredictability of Multiple Sclerosis flares, I could step into my intention with integrity and optimal awareness.  Many years ago, my spiritual teacher taught me that the Path to Self and God Realization exacted a focused presence from the student, as the next steps were often shared in whispers.  Little did I know on Monday that my personal experience would rush forth in the Language of the Breath; whispers manifested as waves of bliss. 

Before I left to return to NM, I expressed a desire to have some photographs made with Coach Simon.  I have always connected deeply with Simon, a connection based (on my part) on a commonality of compromised physical abilities.  He has always been a source of great emotional healing for me, yet on this day, Simon was distant.  I had asked him throughout the week to help me understand why I felt so much fear when I was with horses….I didn’t want to continue to feel surges of panic that were directly related to my fear of falling when I was with them.  I wanted to heal the belief that somehow I now had no value to bring to this work because it was hidden beneath my flaring nerves, my frozen breath and my intense shaking. I am a Saggitarius, the Centaur.  My connection and identification with horses has always been intense, yet; here I was….afraid.  I wanted to transform my ruthless judgment of my worthiness to do what I believe is my purpose….healing...as an expression of mystical partnership with my beloved horses.

Nothing seemed to work in the Round Pen between us.  Lisa, in her amazing, intuitive wisdom, placed a chair inside the round pen…in the shade.  I sat down, and in doing so, released the tension in my legs, and started to breathe.  Simon then approached me in his gentle, powerful way and drew me into what I can only describe as an exquisite place of oneness with collective wisdom of the horse ancestors.  Simon began to breathe rhythmically and through this rhythm, he engaged me eye to eye, breath to breath. Simon allowed me to feel the “alayayujnana..or storehouse of consciousness”, and however many moments we shared were ekacitas…moments between time and space.  In those moments of Pranayama, or Language of the Breath, I was using my entire boday as an organ of perception.  Simon was sharing with me the wisdom of his heart, showing me how to locate consciousness in my own heart and begin to know the world in a way that is harmonizing to me.

What am I taking away from this mystical experience with the Master Coach Simon? 

~True power encompasses more than physical fitness.

~A deeper integration of body, mind and spirit emerges through an illness or an accident.  Healing requires accessing the wisdom behind the wound.

~Listen deeply and make this work your own.

Upon my return home, I found some recent notes from my Yoga Sutra class about Pranayama. “The rhythm of Ujayii breathing changes the shape of the airway in order to channel the air slightly differently.  It does not decrease the air; it slows the air down so that it can maintain its position in the body longer and its use is more efficient”.

In Malcolm Gladwell's book, Outliers, he tells us the secret to mastery is the 10,000 hour rule. To achieve 'expert' status, you must do whatever you do for 10,000 hours. Now let's think about this....

How many hours have you put into your Equine Facilitated Learning practice? That means actually doing the work, either you and your horse, you and a client(s), paid or unpaid. Fifty? One hundred? One thousand?

To give you some perspective, as an ICF certified coach, to apply for my MCC (Master Certified Coach) I needed to have at least 2,500 hours of coaching. I have been coaching for 15 years. 10,000 hours is a lot of hours!!

Why does 10,000 hours make an expert? Because by being engaged in any one field that amount of time gives you answers to critical questions like:

• What is happening in this field right now?
  


• Where do we go to find out?
  


• Who are the leading experts?
  


• How do we create an abundant practice with sustainable value to our clients?


• What are cutting edge practices?


• Who can we partner with to grow, learn, and create possibility?
